Patient and Family Partnership Council

We are committed to continually improving the quality and services offered at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. The most valuable feedback we receive comes from you – the members of our community, and the patients and families we serve. Because your experiences and ideas are important to us, we would like to invite you to consider becoming a part of our hospital’s Patient and Family Partnership Council.

The goal of this council is to bring together diverse members of our community, patients, family members and/or friends of patients, and health care professionals to discuss and collaborate on ways to make Fort Sanders Regional the best hospital it can be.

Since its inception in 2016, the Patient and Family Partnership Council has been instrumental in initiating several hospital initiatives including:

  • Ask Me”- a volunteer program that provides directions and escorts to patients and visitors on campus
  • FLAME Award – a recognition for the hospital’s non-nurse employees who have gone above and beyond to improve the hospital experience for our patients and their family members

The Council has also provided feedback to hospital teams focused on improving patient materials, such as the hospital’s admission booklets, food and nutrition options and wayfinding, including improvements to parking instructions provided online.

How can you help our council?

Perhaps you have been a patient at Fort Sanders Regional, and you have specific suggestions that would improve patients’ experiences when they are in our care. Perhaps you have suggestions about ways that our waiting areas could be more comfortable or welcoming. Or perhaps you have ideas about the kind of information that would be helpful to receive prior to a hospital visit.

Application Process

If you are interested in sharing your thoughts and ideas with us on an ongoing basis, and in working with hospital employees and managers to enhance the service, quality, safety and patient care at Fort Sanders Regional, we’d like to hear from you!

Once applications have been reviewed, selected candidates will complete an interview process. Those chosen for the council will receive information about orientation, meeting times and locations, and other details. Meetings will be at Fort Sanders Regional and will typically be held monthly during the early lunch hour, with a meal provided.
