A nurse at Morristown-Hamblen was honored recently with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days.
Congratulations to Steven for being recognized with the DAISY award. Steven was nominated by a patient and his wife for the care and compassion he showed the patient during his hospital stay. Read her nomination below:
“Let me first state it is an honor to be a part of the Daisy Awards. In times in dealing with a loved one’s health is never easy. My story begins a few days ago when my husband and I met this nurse on the 4th floor. My husbands body is not keeping blood in his body. So we are now stressed and having a good nurse can make or break the already high emotional situation. This nurse made our situation doable. He took away all our stress by explaining what was going on. His bedside manner was stellar. He was extremely professional and prompt. I only go out of my way to brag on anyway if they go above and beyond. It is sad but true these kudos are few and in between. My husband and I would like to nominate this nurse from the 4th floor for being a fantastic nurse.”
