Covenant Health CMIO Honored by Becker’s Hospital Review

Mandy Halford, MD, Named a Chief Medical Informatics Officer to Know
February 2025 – Becker’s Hospital Review, a national healthcare publication, recently released its 2024 list of “58 Hospital and Health System CMIOs and CNIOs to Know.” It included Mandy Halford, MD, senior vice president, chief medical officer and chief medical informatics officer of Covenant Health. She has served as the health system’s CMIO for nine years.

Per Becker’s, chief medical informatics officers named to the list “are constantly looking for new avenues to enhance patient care by melding clinical care and digital transformation. They strategically integrate informatics solutions that better serve patients, providers and their organizations.”
As chief medical informatics officer, Dr. Halford is responsible for leading technology and operational processes, assuring accurate information delivery to clinicians and caregivers to ultimately enhance patient care, quality and safety. She has also been instrumental in leading rollouts of new technology, such as Advanced Care at Home, and aligning technology strategies with the health system’s objectives.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Halford leads clinical operations and champions quality improvement efforts across the health system. She also liaises with more than 1,500 affiliated physicians and helped establish the Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Halford earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds a clinical informatics certification from the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
