On December 10, Covenant Health joined community leaders, elected officials, and partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Covenant Health Springbrook. This new 60,000 square-foot medical facility will bring comprehensive healthcare services closer to home for families in Blount County.

“Covenant Health exists in its mission to improve lives through better health,” expressed Covenant Health’s President and CEO, Jim VanderSteeg. “We are proud to bring high-quality, compassionate care close to home for the families who live and work here.”
Care Close to Home for Blount County
Conveniently located in the Springbrook Farm area of Alcoa, the new medical hub will offer urgent care, primary care, specialty services, and rehabilitation, all under one roof. By improving access to care, Covenant Health Springbrook will help thousands of families receive timely, high-quality care without leaving their community.
“This is more than a groundbreaking,” shared VanderSteeg. “This is our promise—our covenant—to the people of Blount County and the surrounding region. We are investing, not just in bricks and mortar, but in people, innovation, and partnerships that will serve this community for decades.”
Community and Partnership
This project is made possible thanks to a strategic partnership with the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC) and Realty Trust Group (RTG).
The groundbreaking ceremony highlighted the importance of collaboration in meeting community needs. Bruce Applegate, Alcoa City Manager, shared, “Alcoa has always been a place where progress and partnership go hand in hand. This project is a perfect example of that. It represents an investment in the health and future of our community.”
Dr. Jay Crawford of KOC echoed this sentiment, adding, “Access to expert care should be convenient and close to home. This new location will allow us to serve patients in Blount County with the same excellence and compassion they expect from us.”
Looking Ahead
As a not-for-profit health system, Covenant Health reinvests in the communities we serve. We remain committed to improving lives through better health. We will continue investing in people, technology, and facilities to ensure every person in our region has access to the care they deserve.
VanderSteeg expressed, “This and all future projects will be planned and designed around our Covenant Health Pledge to put patients first, to pursue excellence, and to be the first and best choice for healthcare in this community.”
The facility, located at 1140 Tesla Blvd. in Alcoa, Tennessee, is expected to open in early 2027. This facility marks the beginning of a long-term investment in Blount County’s health and well-being.
