Proton Therapy Ambassador Program

Thompson Proton Center Ambassadors meet and shake hands.

About the Program

The Thompson Proton Center (TPC) Ambassador Program invites cancer survivors to share their experiences and raise awareness about proton therapy. As a Proton Ambassador, you can engage at your own pace, based on your interests, skills, and availability. This program is designed to keep you connected with the Thompson Proton Center community and offer various opportunities for involvement.

Joining the Ambassador Team means you’ll receive informative emails with industry news and newsletters, as well as invitations to Thompson Proton Center-led volunteer initiatives like Coffee & Connections, Cancer Support Groups, and other Thompson Proton Center sponsored events. Participation is completely optional, and we value any volunteer time you choose to contribute.

Our Community

We are proud to have a robust community of over 100 active members. As a Proton Ambassador, you’ll join a network of individuals dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of cancer patients and survivors.

Ambassador FAQs

  1. Can I be an ambassador if I was treated at a different proton center?
    • Absolutely! We encourage you to share your proton therapy journey, no matter where you received treatment. The Thompson Proton Center (TPC) delivers world-class cancer care right here in East Tennessee, and your story can help others learn about proton therapy as a viable treatment option.
  2. Does Thompson Proton Center need help raising awareness since it’s part of Covenant Health?
    • Yes! We rely on the passionate advocacy of former proton therapy patients to spread the word. As the only facility offering proton therapy in the East Tennessee region, Thompson Proton Center needs your help to raise awareness and educate the community.
  3. What can you tell me about the TPC staff and providers?
    • Our team at TPC is highly experienced, with many staff members having worked at this or other proton centers for years. Dr. Allen Meek has been with us since we opened in 2014, and he is joined by radiation oncologists Dr. Brion Shin and Dr. Ryan Grover, as well as Nurse Practitioner Caitlin Gannon. Dr. Grover also serves as our Medical Director, ensuring top-tier care for all our patients.
  4. Who should people contact for a proton therapy consultation?
    • Our dedicated care coordinator team is ready to assist prospective patients. To schedule an appointment, simply call 865-321-4685.
  5. Are tours of the center available?
    • Yes! Our lobby is open to the public, and we offer regular weekend tours. Private group tours can also be arranged. We provide business cards with QR codes that link directly to our tour sign-up forms. Feel free to distribute these cards and help us promote awareness of proton therapy. Contact us if you need more cards.
  6. Can someone from TPC give a presentation on proton therapy to my organization?
    • Certainly! We have several team members available to deliver presentations about proton therapy to community groups and organizations. To schedule a presentation, call our front desk at 865-862-1600, and we’ll connect you with the appropriate person to make arrangements.
