Frequently Asked Questions About Imaging Services

Where do I get a copy or report of my imaging procedure?
You may pick these up in the medical records (HIM) office. Here’s what you need to know:
- Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Medical records is located on the lobby level.
- You will be required to present a photo ID and sign a medical information release form.
- All images are stored digitally and will be given to you on a CD.
When will I get the results of my test?
Your physician will have access to the results of your exam within 48 hours of the procedure. You may follow-up with your physician at this time or request a copy of your results from the medical records department by calling 865-331-1107.
How do I reschedule an exam?
To reschedule exams at the Thompson Comprehensive Breast Center, call 865-331-1450 on Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
To reschedule all other imaging exams, call 865-374-4000 on Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Where do I check in for my imaging exam?
If you are scheduled for a CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, IVR or an X-ray procedure, you will need to check in at patient services, located on the lobby level of the hospital. Patient services will assist you with registering for your exam and direct you to the location of your exam.
If you are scheduled for an exam at Thompson Comprehensive Breast Center, check in at the front desk in the office, located on the 2nd floor of the Thompson Cancer Survival Center.
Should I eat or drink anything before my test?
Your physician’s office will provide instructions regarding eating or drinking prior to your test. If you did not receive instructions, please call 865-331-1111 and request to speak to someone from radiology. The technologist will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your pre-procedure requirements.
