October 2025 – Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center was recently named one of “America’s Best-in-State Hospitals for 2026” by Newsweek. Out of 800 hospitals nationwide, it was one of 17 hospitals in Tennessee to be recognized.
Newsweek compiled the list based on quality metrics, reputation, patient experience and patient-recorded outcome measures implementation. Quality metrics were obtained from organizations such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the American Hospital Association Annual Survey and hospital accreditation bodies, including The Joint Commission and Accreditation Commission for Health Care, among others. Patient experience data was collected from survey results from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
“Being named one of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals by Newsweek is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the extraordinary work our team delivers every day,” said Tab Culbertson, president and chief administrative officer of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. “This recognition affirms our commitment to drive continuous improvement. It’s especially meaningful because it’s based on publicly reported quality outcomes, patient experience and recommendations from peers in the medical community. Our focus on patient safety, clinical excellence and compassionate care drives everything we do, and we’re proud to serve our community with integrity and purpose.”
Fort Sanders Regional’s sister hospitals, LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville and Roane Medical Center in Harriman, were also recognized.
