Daniel was recognized by his co-worker for the compassion and care he showed to his patient’s family and for going above and beyond his call of duty as an ER tech. Read his nomination below.
Daniel’s Nomination
“CCU had a patient expire in the emergency room. The family was here as tourists and did not speak any English. I was concerned that the family would have a hard time understanding the process of TDS and finding a funeral home only using Stratus. I came to the ER to ask Daniel to help the family call local funeral homes that night. I was warned no one would have a Spanish speaking person available at 9:00 p.m. Daniel spent a lot of time helping the family get into contact with a funeral home and explained to them the process.
The next day I thanked Daniel for helping and he told me his wife was meeting the family at the funeral home to help translate.
A gentleman from Cremation Options called and spoke with the house supervisor and stated that Daniel and his wife came again to help translate for the family. He was thankful for Daniel and said he was an amazing man.
Not only was the family grieving the death of their father but they were in a foreign country, unable to speak our language enough to understand the after death process. I can only imagine how scared they felt. Daniel and his wife went out on their own time on multiple occasions to the ensure the family was taken care of. The world needs more people like Daniel and his wife.”
