In addition to training on their own time, members of the Covenant Health Marathon Team train together at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center weekly and take part in community training with the Knoxville Track Club on Saturday mornings from January through March. Strength training is just as important as aerobic exercise in getting the body ready for a long distance event as this type of effort pushes your whole body, not just your legs and feet. Coach Kane recommends strength training/cross training a couple of times a week, with a day or two in between to let your body recover from the strain.
