Take Control and Take on Cancer …. Together

When fighting cancer, you are never alone. Thompson Cancer Survival Center at Methodist and the Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee (CSC), have partnered to bring a series of day and evening classes to support cancer patients and caregivers. Learn how to manage cancer pain and decreased appetite during two upcoming Take on Cancer Together programs.

These free programs will include a light meal, informative presentation, opportunity for questions and answers, and social time for attendees to meet other cancer patients and their support people.

February 7:  Managing Cancer-Related Pain

Cancer or its treatment can cause pain. Our interdisciplinary panel — made up of a physical therapist and psychologist — will help you to understand your pain cycle and then learn practical tools to manage your pain and improve your quality of life.

Program held from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the Cancer Resource Center, 2nd Floor of the Thompson Cancer Survival Center building, 102 Vermont Avenue, Oak Ridge.

Lunch and Learn

March 7:  Managing Loss of Appetite

What do I do if I don’t feel like eating? Join members of our nursing and nutrition staff as they offer tips for managing loss of appetite and getting the basic nutrition needed to help tolerate treatment and fight cancer. A variety of samples will be available for tasting.

Program held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Methodist Medical Center’s Manhattan Room located at 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike. Easy access from top level of parking deck to 2nd floor entrance.
