Pamela Fox honored with the DAISY Award

A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days. Congratulations to Pamela, an RN in ASU for being recognized with the DAISY award. Pamela was nominated by her supervisor for her professionalism and kindness that she shows to her patients each day.

Pamela’s Nomination

“Pam demonstrates professionalism and kindness to each of her patients every day. She relates to them on a personal level to connect and help ease their minds prior to surgery. Even on the most difficult of cases, Pam keeps her calm and connects with her patients providing only the best level of care. Dr. Edwards came forward on behalf of her patient and their family to recognize the care her they received while in ASU. Pam’s patient was a special needs patient and the mother praised her for going above and beyond. Pam was the primary nurse who worked in combination with a tech and an IV starter. This patient was recognized by the team as someone who needed some extra special touches and interaction. Pam not only did what was expected of her job but adjusted her interventions to meet the individual needs of the patient. She got on her level, and provided age-appropriate care, and had playful interactions. They laughed together, listened to the patient sing, and put the patient’s mind at ease. She played a huge role in making what could have been a terrifying and very high anxiety situation into a positive and fun experience for the patient and her family. We are beyond blessed to have Pam on our ASU team!”
