New MRI Coming to LeConte

New and Improved MRILarge Bore MRI

A new MRI at LeConte Medical Center will soon be available, offering more image clarity and patient comfort. Installation of the new MRI will be the latest addition to a radiology department that is accredited in every advanced imaging procedure. The new magnetic resonance imaging system features technology that is built to accommodate anatomical and physiological differences in patients. The result is consistent scans for a diverse patient population and less need for rescans. LeConte CAO Aaron Burns says the new MRI system is exactly what LeConte was looking for. The  system  has special features that improve the quality and reproducibility of head, neck and spine imaging. Artificial intelligence and body models help adjust the patient’s positioning and deliver consistent, reproducible images. The opening on the new MRI is wider than the standard opening on a traditional machine, and special anatomy adaptive coils improve patient comfort. The high signal-to-noise ratio also makes the MRI process quieter. “The wider bore will allow us to treat more patients and will likewise create a more comfortable experience for our patients,” says Teresa Huskey, radiology manager.
