Not in a rush to make his debut, Methodist Medical Center’s first baby of 2018 “cruised” into the New Year at 1:48 p.m. on January 2, 2018. Ethan Michael Cruse was born to proud parents John and Anndrea Cruse of Oak Ridge.
Amazing experience
Ethan was delivered by Methodist Medical Center OB/GYN, Dr. Scott Peters and weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 21 inches long.
This is the couple’s first child and they were so impressed with the experience and the staff at the Family Birthing Center.
“Everyone was just amazing,” said the Cruses.
As the 2018 New Year’s Baby, the family received a celebratory gift basket from Methodist Medical Center and Covenant Health. Contents included an assortment of baby care items including a baby monitor, bath water temperature gauge, shampoo and terry cloth towel, hats, blankets, bibs and a keepsake book of baby’s first milestones.
Connecting with the community
Methodist has one of this region’s most comprehensive health education programs for patients, their families, and the community at large. While many of the medical center’s classes and activities are tailored for young families, it also offer health management classes and support groups for adults of all ages; smoking cessation and exercise classes for people who want to make important lifestyle changes; workshops for young people; and special events for the entire community.
