Methodist Medical Center names new Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer

Jacquelyn Alt of Alpharetta, Georgia, has assumed the role of vice president and chief nursing officer of Methodist Medical Center.  Alt succeeds Mike Cavacos, who moved to the chief nursing officer role at Methodist’s sister facility, Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, earlier this year.

Alt previously worked at two WellStar hospitals in Georgia. Since 2017 she has served as vice president and chief nursing officer for WellStar North Fulton Hospital, a 202-bed facility in Roswell. She previously served as Vice President of Operations for WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, a 633-bed hospital in Marietta.

Alt held clinical and operational responsibilities for the Level 2 trauma centers during her tenure at each facility.  At North Fulton Hospital, her direct line of management included neuro-endovascular stroke and neuro-surgical care, emergency services and women’s services, including a Level 2 NICU.  She expanded stroke services with the addition of an endovascular stroke intervention program which included neuro critical care and acute care beds.  During her tenure the North Fulton Hospital was awarded Newsweek’s 100 Best Maternity Hospitals, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses’ Beacon Award for Excellence in Critical Care, American Heart Association/Get with the Guidelines Gold Award as a STEMI Receiving Center, and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) re-verification as a Level 2 Trauma Program.

In addition to trauma and inpatient surgical oversight at Kennestone, Alt also led the clinical operations for Kennestone’s Outpatient Surgery Center, Outpatient Urology Procedure Center, a Complex Endoscopy Center and Vascular Institute.  She also served as the clinical integration perioperative lead for the One WellStar acquisition and transition of five new hospitals.

Alt received her bachelor of science in nursing degree and a master of business administration degree with healthcare management specialization from Indiana Wesleyan University, graduating from both programs with honors.  She has extensive experience in LEAN methodologies and has held multiple board memberships including Ronald McDonald House Charities and Super Shot Allen County.

Jacque and her husband, Dan, are happy to be settling into East Tennessee.  “My husband and I are blessed with four amazing children and we are excited to explore and share with our family all of the wonderful things this area has to offer.”
