In-Person or Online – MMC has Wellness Programming to Fit Your Needs

Walk-With-A-Doc

Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease, improve your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, elevate your mood and reduce your risk of osteoporosis, cancer and diabetes.

And, if you join Methodist Medical Center’s new “Walk-with-a-Doc” program, you can also learn more about an important health topic each month. Milan Sheth, DO, board-certified interventional cardiologist will be talking with participants on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 9 a.m. Participants will meet at the pavilion at Melton Lake Park in Oak Ridge for a short talk by Dr. Sheth about exercise and then will walk as a group to Calhoun’s and then back.  To register, call (865) 835-4662.

Take On Cancer Together

Support groups for cancer survivors can be a great source of comfort when you suffer fear of recurrence, have questions about self-care, or just need some understanding. Support groups can also be helpful for family members, including children. Methodist’s Take on Cancer Together offers programming throughout each year for patients and family members. The next program, “Holiday Art for the Whole Family,” will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, and will focus on emotional and physical healing through the creation of art. Call (865) 546-4661 for more information.
