FLAME Award Winner – Margret Scalf

Margret Scalf receiving her FLAME awardAfter a short break due to pandemic gathering restrictions, Fort Sanders Regional is excited to begin presenting the FLAME Award for extraordinary, non-nursing staff members again. One such staff member is Margret Scalf, a housekeeper in our oncology unit. Margret is recognized by a coworker and a patient for her willingness to go the extra mile.

The patient and his wife who want to recognize Margret were in town on vacation when the patient got sick and needed specialty care at Fort Sanders Regional. At the time of nomination, the patient and wife had been at the hospital for an extended time, so Margret began taking their clothes home with her once a week to wash them. The patient and his wife are so appreciative of Margret’s extra compassion. Thank you for your commitment to your patients and their families, Margret! We greatly appreciate all you do.

The FLAME Award was created by FSRMC’s Patient Family Partnership Council in 2018 to recognize our non-nurse employees who have gone above and beyond to improve the hospital experience for our patients and their family members. To nominate an extraordinary staff member, click here.
