Faith Community Nursing focuses on providing care to the whole person – body, mind, and spirit.

The Faith Community Nurse is a registered professional nurse who serves through the church to provide preventive care and education, with a focus on health promotion and physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The Faith Community Nurse may serve as a health counselor, educator, and liaison between individuals and the church and/or community resources.

The Center for Faith Community Nursing at Tennessee Wesleyan University – Fort Sanders Nursing Department provides continuing education workshops for Faith Community Nurses and others interested in providing spiritual care to patients and clients.

The Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course is offered once or twice a year, as needed. The Foundations Course curriculum is endorsed by the Church Health Center (http://parishnurses.org)

Faith Community Nursing is recognized by the American Nurses Association.
