We are located in the heart of Crossville, Tennessee, and offer our patients a vast array of healthcare services. Patients who come to Cumberland Medical Center find excellent patient care in a highly professional environment. Many of our services, such as radiation oncology, cardiac cath lab services, tele-nephrology and hyperbaric medicine, are not often available in communities our size.

CMC has served its community since 1950 and was built on the dream of Dr. May Cravath Wharton. Dr. May served in rural Cumberland County and devoted her life to caring for those in need of healthcare beginning in the early 1920s. Her dream came to fruition when the doors of the 50-bed general hospital and the facility was dedicated with a promise: “To the glory of God and the welfare of His children, we dedicate this hospital, to the health and wellbeing of our community and region, we dedicate this hospital, to the help of those who have long suffered illness and had no place to turn for relief, we dedicate this hospital, to the aid of mothers and the blessing of little children, we dedicate this hospital, to the age-old fight against disease and the things that cause ill health, we dedicate this hospital, to bringing the news of better health to our whole countryside, we dedicate this hospital in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” (Dr. Woman of the Cumberlands)

Cumberland Medical Center is now licensed for 189 beds and has a medical staff of 70 plus physicians of varying specialties. Inpatients are cared for by our highly skilled team of hospitalist physicians, specially trained to care for hospital patients. An intensivist cares for our ICU patients, and our emergency department has 24-hour physician coverage.
