Investing in our Community for Better Health
Another way we’re caring for our patients and community.

Together, Covenant Health and Claiborne Medical Center are investing in our community for better health. We’ve added services, purchased advanced medical equipment, and brought physicians to the community. This is all part of our promise to improve your quality of life through better health.
Investments
We have upgraded Claiborne Medical Center by installing advanced medical technology and expanding the services provided at our community hospital. Some recent improvements include:
- Purchase of new Computed Topography (CT) unit and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment– In 2024, we purchased new equipment for our imaging department. The new CT scanner is a 128-slice unit that provides increased speed and detailed information, better diagnostic care, and improved patient comfort. The new MRI offers clearer and sharper images for more detailed and accurate imaging for our patients, as well as reduced noise levels and accommodation of a wide range of body types for an improved patient experience.
- Renovation and installation of fluoroscopy equipment– We also purchased updated fluoroscopy equipment for our Radiology department. Fluoroscopy helps diagnose and treat many conditions of the blood vessels, bones, and joints, and the digestive, urinary, respiratory, and reproductive systems.
Future Improvements
- Expansion of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation- In 2025, we are expanding our cardiac rehabilitation area in size and adding new cardiopulmonary rehabilitation for our patients. These services will include the Pritikin model of pulmonary rehabilitation, which provides a program of both exercise and nutrition services individually designed for each patient.
- Renovation of ED and Outpatient Lobby Areas- We are remodeling our patient lobbies to provide comfort for our patients and visitors. This includes new furniture, improved signage, charging stations, and adding a camera at our front door to provide safety for our staff and allow patient and visitor access to our hospital on evenings and weekends.
New Physicians and Physician Information
We welcome general surgeon G. Wayne Cox, DO, to the Claiborne medical staff. Dr. Cox is a member of Preferred Surgical Associates and is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in general surgery. We are very pleased to have Dr. Cox as part of our surgery team.
We also welcome Dr. Luis Pannocchia and Dr. Charles DeBusk of Heartland Primary Care to the Covenant Health family. These physicians and their team have been members of the Claiborne medical community for many years, and we are proud to have them as part of Covenant Medical Group.
