CMC Breast Center to Hold Lunch, Open House on Oct. 24
Cumberland Medical Center will hold a special luncheon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month on Monday, Oct. 24 at noon.
Board Certified Radiologist Joanna Blankner, MD who helps care for patients locally who receive care with the CMC Breast Center will be the guest speaker. The luncheon is free of charge, however, RSVPs are requested because space is limited. Reservations can be made by calling 931-459-4262.
“Statistically, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. We want to empower women with what they need to know in support of their breast health care,” says Cancer and Radiology Director Tom Rally with Cumberland Medical Center.
In 2021, the CMC Breast Centers cared for 9,336 patients. The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammogram screenings for women over the age of 40; especially if they have a family history of breast cancer. Detecting breast cancer early on can help improve one’s survival before cancer has a chance to spread to other areas of the body.
Open House
Immediately following the luncheon on Monday, Oct. 24, the Breast Center at CMC will hold an Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. Here, guests will be able to tour the department and receive additional breast health resources.
CMC Breast Centers
Cumberland Medical Center operates two locations for mammography which have both earned the American College of Radiology’s prestigious Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence designation. Services include 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound-guided biopsy, wire localization, and breast nurse navigator services. CMC is a member of Covenant Health, the region’s largest cancer-fighting network, with Thompson Cancer Survival Center.
