Congratulations to Macy Sykes with our Cardiovascular Lab team for her BEE Award honor! The award is short for Being Exceptional Every day which aims at celebrating our support service caregivers. It’s a compliment to the DAISY award for RN’s and LPN’s because, as we all know, you can’t have a DAISY without a BEE and vice versa!
Attention to Detail and Persistence Pays Off
Board-certified cardiologist, Rakesh Vohra, MD, submitted the nomination to recognize Macy whose attentiveness and persistence led to a life-saving procedure.
Macy’s attention to detail and intuitive nature with her patient and his symptoms saved his life. The images of the condition were suboptimal and could have easily been missed, however, Macy was intently focused on questioning the patient about his symptoms. Her findings led to a discussion with me and a STAT CT order, which all resulted in a timely surgery. Macy’s intuition and attention to her patients’ concerns led to his life being saved which could have, ultimately, ended in a much different way.”
Setting the BEE Example
Methodist’s Chief Support Officer, Jay Shepherd, delivered the award and remarked, “Macy, we are so thankful to have you as a member of our MMC family, and I can think of no better example for the award as a BEE honoree!”

Submit a BEE Nomination
Methodist Medical Center’s BEE (Being Exceptional Every day) Award recognizes employees who aren’t RNs and LPNs. RNs and LPNs are candidates for The DAISY Award.
