We’ve got your back
Leg pain, neck pain, arm pain…the root of the problem is often the spine. Neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons at Covenant Health understand your condition and have designed a healing environment, focused on relief and recovery.
Covenant Spine Centers are dedicated units at Fort Sanders Regional and Parkwest Medical Centers designed exclusively for patients undergoing back, neck or spine surgery. The Spine Center is a comprehensive surgery and recovery program with individualized care, from orientation to post-surgery follow-up.
The centers are staffed with a multi-disciplinary team--specially trained nurses, physical therapists, and pain management specialists. They work closely with your surgeon to get you back on your feet quickly. Staff also coordinate home care and outpatient rehab to speed your recovery.

Spine Surgical Treatments
The Covenant Spine Centers provide the latest technology for surgery to relieve pain and correct problems with the back, neck and spine. While many surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis, some procedures and some patients greatly benefit from the specialized care of the Spine Center.
These include patients undergoing complex surgeries, such as multi-level spinal fusion to treat severe pain associated with deformity and degenerative disk disease at two or more levels of the spine. The healing environment of the Spine Center also benefits older adults undergoing less complex procedures, such as a discectomy, who may require additional time to heal. Other procedures include:
- Laminectomies to relieve pressure on the spinal cord
Decompressive laminectomies for stenosis
Laminectomies and discectomies for herniated discs
Spinal fusion for spondylolisthesis (unstable spine)
Surgical reconstruction of spinal deformities
