Scott Dougherty, 50, Knoxville – When this bookkeeper took up running a few years ago, he enjoyed the friendship and encouragement he got from being part of a team. Dougherty lost 35 pounds in 2009 as a participant in an 18-month study on snacks and dieting at the University of Tennessee. He’s done a pretty good job of maintaining that weight loss, but wants to see if he can do better.
