Methodist Senior Connection invites seniors who do little or no exercising to “Jump Start” their physical activity beginning Jan. 12. The center also encourages seniors who have Medicare questions to attend a Medicare planning workshop on Jan. 12.
“Jump Start” is an eight-week exercise program, sponsored by Covenant Health, that focuses on cardiovascular health, muscle strength and flexibility, according to Lynne Burchell, Methodist Senior Connection manager. People who have never exercised or have not exercised in a long time are invited to take part in the classes, hear motivational
speakers, and receive educational materials.
Classes will be held at the Methodist Senior Connection exercise room from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 12, 19, and 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23, and March 1. The exercise room is located by Things Remembered in Oak Ridge Mall.
Class size is limited, and registration is required, Burchell said. The cost is $20 for all eight sessions. For more information and to register, please call 541-4500.
“Medicare Choices Made Easy,” a planning workshop for seniors, will be held on Jan. 12 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon in the Oak Ridge Mall community room. A free lunch will be served, and reservations are required. To register, please call 481-1811.
Sponsors are the Association of Retired Americans (ARA) and Ameri-Life, in cooperation with Methodist Senior Connection. ARA is a not-for-profit organization that offers various benefits, including insurance products, that help improve seniors’ quality of life. Ameri-Life is a leading producer of turn-key insurance sales programs for seniors and offers expertise on Medicare supplement and Medicare Select policies.
