ennis legends Martina Navratilova and Zina Garrison, some of the world's greatest wheelchair tennis players, and others will be participating in the Game-Set-Match Wheelchair Tennis Exhibition to be held at Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center's new indoor tennis facility on November 17, from 7 - 10 p.m. Tennis professional Chris Woodruff, a Knoxville native, and University of Tennessee tennis star Peter Handoyo will also be participating.

Wheelchair tennis professionals participating include Sharon Clark, Hope Lewellen, Randy Snow, and Stephen Welch. All rank among the top ten wheelchair players in the world. Each will play their respective opponent in a round of singles.

The goal of the event is to increase community awareness of spinal cord injuries and paralysis, to present role models who are physically challenged, and to educate others on recreational sports, physical challenges, and life-long health and fitness. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Major sponsors for the above benefit include Spectrum Design Studio, Greater Knoxville Tennis Association, WVLT-TV Channel 8, WSMJ Smooth JAZZ 98.7, and Russell Printing Options.

Tickets are $50 per person and are tax deductible. Tickets and additional information are available at these locations: Racquets & Jackets, 584-6981; Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center, 531-5000; Bally's Total Fitness, 558-9444.

The athletes will be hitting the courts after a day of activities throughout the community. Most will be participating in assemblies at Cedar Bluff Middle School and a luncheon with local dignitaries at Gettysvue Country Club. An agenda for the day is included.
