he Fort Sanders Therapy Center at Fort Sanders Sevier sponsored free physicals for student athletes on Thursday, July 8. The physicals, offered to Sevier County high school and middle school students, were given from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Two hundred and forty-six students took advantage of the free exams.
Staff members performed screenings for flexibility, strength, cervical and lumbar range of motion, as well as ligamentous testing on the student athletes. The screenings were followed by a medical physical given by Fort Sanders Sevier physicians and medical professionals.
Physicians and medical professionals who participated in the event were Dr. Rodney Carter, Dr. Steven Johnson, Dr. Richard Love, Dr. Wade Penny, Dr. Ammar Razzak, Dr. Louis Riley, Dr. Steven Smith, Dr. Vincent Tolley, Dr. Donald Weckesser, Dr. Alan Whiton, Sherril Boozer, FNP, Rob Cornette, PNP, Benny Davis, CRNA, Greg Downy, CRNA, Jim Moreland, P.A., Lynn Moreland, P.A., and Paula Sparkman, FNP.
High school and middle school athletes are required to have a medical physical to participate in school sports. The Center has offered the free physicals for local students for approximately 10 years.
