Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Oak Ridge will offer free body fat analyses and lung function screenings Monday, January 5 at Wal-Mart on South Illinois Avenue.
The screening area will be located in front of the pharmacy, and hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Personnel from Health Promotions, which is affiliated with Methodist and Covenant Health, and Methodist's respiratory therapy department, will perform the screenings.
"We're offering these screenings to help people who are trying to make the decision to quit smoking and/or lose weight," according to Rick Morrow of Health Promotions.
"These decisions are often difficult for people to make, but they're extremely important," added Jim Munsey of the Wal-Mart Pharmacy.
Health Promotions offers a number of health and wellness services. They include diabetes self management, employee wellness, corporate health services, smoking cessation, stress management, weight management, and Women's Center programs.
