Improve your outlook with laughter; Women's Center shows how

When life's problems get you down, a little laughter can relieve the stress and improve your outlook.

Laurel Veal-Graves, a guidance counselor at Campbell County High School, will offer suggestions on finding the humor and fun in your life, even during the difficult times. Her program, which is part of the Women's Center brown bag lunch series, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 12 noon at Union Planters Bank, Clinton. The address is 101 S. Main St., and the room is suite 500.

"Stress Management through Humor" will focus on using the positive power of humor and rediscovering childhood, when we found humor in the simple things of life. It will also include suggestions for creating your own humor "survival kit".

Veal-Graves has a bachelor of science degree in special education and a master's degree in counseling from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has worked in several areas of education from pre-school to adult and has taught workshops on stress and related topics at state and local conferences. In addition, she has written the curricula and led workshops on team building, self-esteem, problem solving, and leadership skills.

Her husband, Bill, is a teacher at Jefferson Middle School in Oak Ridge. They live in Clinton with sons Dylan and Dane.

"Stress Management through Humor" is a free program, and it's open to the public. Bring your lunch; beverages will be provided.
