Covenant Health launches TeamCovenant

Community Service Program organizes and rewards volunteer efforts

East Tennessee ¾ September is the official launch month for TeamCovenant, Covenant Health’s new community service program. All part-time and full-time employees across the entire organization will be invited to participate in this innovative approach to volunteer involvement.

What is TeamCovenant? It is a systematic and multi-faceted volunteer service program designed to encourage volunteers to donate their time to worthwhile events that serve the well-being of our communities. In exchange for an employee’s hours of service points are accumulated and can be used toward prizes such as paid time off, concert tickets, shopping sprees, and other valuable tokens of appreciation.

One of the great things about TeamCovenant is that it makes volunteering easy! The TeamCovenant staff collects information on community service events going on throughout the organization and other appropriate charities in the vicinity that need help and offers the list (along with what needs to be done!) to employees. Employees have the opportunity to skip all the hassles of finding activities, how to get involved and when to do it and go straight to the great experience of helping others while earning points toward rewards!

A key part of the program is the Volunteer Leadership Group. Composed of volunteer-crazed individuals at Covenant Health, this group oversees the volunteer efforts and record-keeping at his/her own facility. Record-keeping is especially important, since Covenant Health has about 8,000 employees on its rolls. Once the Volunteer Leadership Group gets established and is meeting regularly, employees will be able to use their facility’s Leader as a contact for the program. During the kick-off months, employees will turn their materials in to the main TeamCovenant office located on the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center campus.

Rewards for completed community service will be offered on a quarterly basis, and occasionally more frequently if the prizes are seasonal or one-time events. Employees will be notified of an updated prize list and prize ordering procedures before it is time to order. The enrollment packets will give more information on point-earning power of different kinds of activities and a tentative list of prizes which will be awarded near the end of this year.
