Peninsula Healthcare offers Help for Blended Families

Today, approximately one child out of six lives in a step family. Studies show that many of the tensions found in step families stem from problems during the first marriage and the divorce, and often carry over into the remarriage.

No matter where the problems come from, the reality is that they do exist in many step families. And, they can seem overwhelming to the parents and the children involved.

As a part of Peninsula Healthcare's continuing series of community education seminars, licensed clinical social workers Stacy Park and Ed Hochnedel will offer an informative look into the causes of friction in step families and ways to improve the situation. As clinical leaders at Peninsula Hospital, Park and Hochnedel have extensive experience in dealing with families, including the special challenges of step families.

The seminar will foster an understanding of the processes involved in divorce and remarriage. Participants will also learn how to build a strong foundation for their step families and ways to foster all-important relationships between parent and child, and siblings.

Whether you are part of a blended family or work with individuals in this situation, this free seminar will be a valuable resource.
