The Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Kids Run is a fun event for children—and a fitness journey that culminates with an exciting and rewarding finish for every child.
Much more than a one-event race, the Covenant Kids Run is actually a program to encourage the good habit of regular exercise. Children walk, jog or exercise an equivalent of 25 miles on their own over the eight to 12 weeks leading up to main event. They receive a log book to track their progress along the way.
On race day, children run their last mile together, completing the marathon distance of 26.2 miles at the finish line on the 50-yard-line at Neyland Stadium—the same finish line that the marathoners use on Sunday. Participants receive a t-shirt, goody bag and a finisher’s medal. With the focus on completion of a fitness goal and not competition, every child is a winner.
As part of its mission to improve the quality of life through better health, Covenant Health is proud to sponsor the event and to help fight the problem of childhood obesity by encouraging physical fitness.
