Want to lose weight? Trying to quit smoking? Concerned about heart disease? Information on these and 1,130 other health related topics is now available thanks to an exciting new addition to the Fort Sanders Health Information Line (Physician Referral).

The telephone counselors at 673-FORT now have at their fingertips an extensive health information library. The topics available include adolescents, seniors, nutrition, exercise and more. The telephone counselors will mail you information on any health topic free of charge the day you call!

Donna Atkins, Senior Telephone Counselor, has been with Fort Sanders for twenty years this month. "The health information library has given us one more way to better serve the public by offering them the specific health care information they need," says Atkins. "It is rewarding to be able to give callers knowledge they can use immediately in their day to day lives."

Physician Referral is, of course, still a part of the 673-FORT service. Callers can get background information about any physician such as where they received medical training, their age, special certifications, and how long they have been in practice.

Telephone counselers can refer callers to doctors at Fort Sanders Regional, Parkwest, Loudon, or Sevier medical centers.

In addition, 673-FORT can help with many other healthcare needs. The telephone counselors have information on every service offered at Fort Sanders and all of the other members of Covenant Health.
