  • At Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center, seniors can receive workouts tailored to their needs and fitness condition.

    Members are encouraged to complete a thorough Fit-Test administered by a fitness center professional, who will evaluate each participant’s blood pressure, cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, and other health factors before developing a personalized exercise program.

    The program, designed specially for those 50 and older, may include the following features:

    • Weight bearing exercises to help prevent osteoporosis
    • Non-weight bearing exercises to reduce symptoms of arthritis
    • Go-Low group fitness classes for cardiovascular improvement
    • Senior group fitness classes
    • Aquatics group fitness classes
    • Jointercize group aquatics classes, taught according to National Arthritis Foundation standards
    • Senior tennis
    • Weigh-to-Go six-week personalized nutrition and fitness program.

    Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center, a recipient of the prestigious Tennessee Quality Achievement Award, is the area’s largest and most comprehensive family fitness center with more than 64,000 square feet of workout space.

    More than 1,900 members are 50 years of age or older.
