Thanks to a team of people at Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Thompson Cancer Survival Center at Methodist, anyone who has access to a telephone has access to the Cancer Resource Line, a free service provided by the Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

The Resource Line began in August and has been very successful in its first month of operation. Callers need only dial toll-free 1-888-768-8272 (TCSC) for the most current and accurate cancer information available. The line is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After business hours callers may leave their requests with the message center and their calls will be returned the following business day.

Four highly trained professionals staff the innovative program, housed at Thompson's downtown facility. The staff at the Resource Line has a comprehensive resource directory available that provides details on a variety of cancer-related topics. Some of the topics include: financial information, health insurance, local resources, oncology services (including medical, radiation and surgical oncology, clinical trials and breast centers), support groups, information on where to purchase mastectomy bras and swimwear, information about purchasing wigs and prostheses, and other topics.

Information is available on contacting senators and legislators in the caller's district for callers with health care issues and concerns that need addressing at the state or national levels.
