Covenant Kids Run Expands Fittest School Challenge
The Covenant Kids Run is expanding its Fittest School Challenge to encourage greater participation among area elementary schools and better fitness among local youth. The challenge is a friendly competition between local elementary schools to promote healthy physical activities and get kids excited about exercising.
Children age 12 and younger can participate. Schools register for the competition and provide a total student body count. Schools with the highest percentage of participation win the title of Fittest School and prizes. This year elementary schools in six counties are invited to participate: Knox, Loudon, Anderson, Sevier, Roane and Blount. To register your school for this year’s event, one representative of the school should contact Jason Altman, Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Race Director at 865-684-4294 or jason@knoxvillemarathon.com
Registration
Children register for the event individually and indicate their school affiliation on their registration form. Online registration is available at www.knoxvillemarathon.com or you can download this backpack stuffer with registration form and make copies: Backpack stuffer & Registration form

Need-based Waivers
Covenant Health and the Knoxville Track Club want to ensure that as many children as possible who want to participate can. A limited number of need-based fee waivers are available for children who cannot afford the registration fee. Monies to cover the expense primarily come from marathon participants themselves. Every adult who registers for a race is asked if they would like to donate $15 to cover the fee for a child who cannot afford to participate. The need-based fee waivers are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Eligible children are those who qualify for free or reduced lunch. Contact Jason Altman, Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Race Director at 865-684-4294, for more information or to recommend students for a need-based waiver.
