The Cancer Program

Top of Page PET Scanning

Covenant Health has the Southeast's first ECAT ACCEL PET Scanner to help physicians find and diagnose cancer that simply could not be found before. This new PET technology from CTI, the world leader in Positron Emission Tomography, can find tumors as small as four millimeters anywhere in the body and complete a full body scan in twenty minutes. Tests have shown that the new ECAT ACCEL PET Scanner is 55% better at diagnosing lung cancer, 27% more accurate in finding breast cancer and over 40% more precise in discovering colo-rectal cancer. Thompson is CTI's primary test facility and international training site, so the very latest advances in PET technology will be available here before they are introduced at other leading hospitals and cancer centers around the world.

Our team includes your physician, a medical director, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and bereavement counselors.
