The Department of Pastoral Services consists of two full time Chaplains and several occasional employed persons and volunteers. Pastoral Care is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week through the staffing of the full time Chaplain on Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On weekends and evenings the occasional employed persons and/or the volunteers serve the facility. A full-time staff chaplain is available as a back-up on-call contact at all times.
Patient Population Served
The Department of Pastoral Services is available to serve all patients, family members, visitors, and staff at our facility. We serve all patients regardless of their religious preference.
Patient Care Planning and Coordination
Pastoral Care staff works in cooperation with the staff, including social work, home health, physician, and others, as well as the family and patient, to coordinate care. As often as possible, the Chaplain is a part of the discharge planning team to evaluate the patient’s need(s) regarding discharge environment. The Chaplain also serves on the Ethics Committee to support the process of education, policy development, and case review as needed.
Staffing Plan
The Department of Pastoral Services is staffed with two clinically trained, Board Certified Chaplains. The occasional employed chaplains and the volunteers are persons selected and screened by the Chaplain, and are either currently active as community clergy persons or retired. Preference will be directed to persons having certified training by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
