Neurology/Neurosurgery

Conditions of the nervous system or brain can affect the way we walk, talk, comprehend and function.

Neurologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment conditions and diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, including:

  • Epilepsy
  • Tumors
  • Stroke
  • Alzheimer's
  • Dementia
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis

Back and neck pain, dizziness and vertigo, pain management and sleep disorders also fall under the auspices of neurology.

At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, our neurologists also work closely with physiatrists at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center to maximize recovery from stroke, and traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries. Neurologists also work with the Fort Sanders Sleep Disorders Center to assist with a variety of sleep-related issues.

Neurosurgeons provide surgical intervention for brain tumors, aneurysms and hemorrhages, as well as a host of spine conditions. Neurosurgeons also provide surgical relief for pain caused by nerve and muscle diseases, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic back pain and conditions resistant to medical management, like Parkinson's disease.
