“Covenant Health is committed to keeping healthcare in our local communities. That is why we invested $76 million to build the new Roane Medical Center and why Covenant Health has invested nearly $1 billion in facilities, technologies, programs and services in East Tennessee,” said Tony Spezia, president and chief executive officer of Covenant Health. The new hospital is off Roane State Highway in Midtown near Pinnacle Point, a commercial shopping center located just off the Harriman/Midtown exit from I-40.
The medical center campus includes a 145,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital and a 26,000 square foot professional office building. “We started with a hospital that was built in 1939. That facility did not have the technology to keep pace with the heart and skill of our staff and physicians. Today we have the most technologically wired medical facility in the area. The new Roane Medical Center has the infrastructure to support comprehensive health care in our community,” said Gaye Jolly, president and chief administrative officer of Roane Medical Center.
Key features of the new hospital include all private, modern patient rooms with large natural light windows, a new cardiac cath lab, 15 emergency suites, technologically advanced surgery suites, and enlarged and modern nursing units. Patient drop-off and pick-up areas are available, as well as free parking in more than 500 parking spaces. Patients and visitors can enjoy freshly prepared meals in the new Three Rivers Café. The new medical center campus has new and innovative technologies including new computer systems and hardware for transition to electronic medical records.
Additional amenities were made possible from $200,000 raised by employees and physicians. A $135,000 gift by the Harriman Rotary Club funded a community room that can be used for educational purposes and meetings. Adjacent to the hospital is a new professional office building, which is home to medical professionals
including Thompson Oncology Group, Roane Patricia Neal Outpatient Therapy Center, and Roane Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
Thompson Oncology Group is staffed with board-certified oncology physicians, who have access to nationally-acclaimed multidisciplinary cancer care through Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Roane Patricia Neal Outpatient Therapy Center features an in-ground therapy pool complete with a built-in treadmill, and Roane Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation offers a new, state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring system.
