Hospital’s golf tournament to auction bag signed by PGA Tour notables
|| Keith Newport, left, and Don Cox, community volunteers on the Acorn Classic tournament committee, display the golf bag signed by players on the PGA Tour. The golf bag will be part of an auction taking place during Methodist Medical Center’s Acorn Classic on October 8.
Plans are underway for the Methodist Medical Center Foundation’s 2012 Acorn Classic, presented by ORNL Federal Credit Union. The annual golf tournament will take place on Monday, October 8 at the Oak Ridge Country Club with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Spots are still available for individual players and teams.
The Acorn Classic is a 4-person scramble tournament open to 120 amateur players. The entry fee is $150 per player or $600 per team of four and includes green fees, cart, lunch, four contest holes, and a dinner awards banquet.
This year’s tournament participants will have the opportunity to bid in an auction featuring a golf bag signed by pro golfers at the 2012 PGA Tour Deutsche Bank Championship. Signatures include Oak Ridge native and two-time PGA Tour winner, Scott Stallings, plus other notables like John Daly, Matt Kuchar, Padraig Harrington and many more. The signed golf bag will be one of several auction items available at this year’s Acorn Classic.
