two healthcare systems – Fort Sanders Health System and MMC Healthcare of Oak Ridge – consolidated to form Covenant Health. The two organizations, which had a combined legacy of more than 100 years of service in our region, united with the strong belief that by working together, they could do more for their communities than they could alone.
Nearly two decades later, the connections Covenant Health has forged with East Tennessee communities have strengthened as the health system has worked in tandem with area leaders, businesses and organizations to provide excellent local healthcare. In recent years Covenant Health has opened new hospitals, outpatient centers and clinics; made innovative technology and medical advances available; and achieved national recognition for quality care and service excellence.
As a not-for-profit health system, Covenant Health reinvests every dollar for the benefit of the community, not profitability or shareholder interests. As the largest private employer in the greater Knoxville area, Covenant Health’s staff of more than 10,000 healthcare professionals supports local communities by purchasing goods and services, participating in local activities, and contributing volunteer time and leadership in local organizations.
Covenant Health is both committed to and connected to the communities we serve, as we live out the health system’s mission of improving the quality of life through better health.
